Blackberry tart & EriGiò dessert wine

A sweet snack in the garden or a cake is always something that brings a smile to both children and adults faces. Today we are proposing a delicious blackberry tart, and for the adults, accompanied by a glass of our EriGiò sweet wine.

Ingredients for the pastry base

  • 300 gm of 00 flour
  • 150 gm of sugar
  • 125 gm of butter
  • 1 whole egg and 1 yolk
  • 1 packet of vanilla specific for sweet recipes
  • lemon rind to taste
  • salt to taste

Ingredients for the filling

  • Blackberry or fruits of the forest jam
  • 250 gm of blackberries

Recipe for the blackberry tart

Sift the flour over a large bowl. Add a pinch of salt and the butter at a room temperature, mixing it with your hands in order to obtain a uniform colour and the consistency of large crumbs. Move the bowl around to make sure all the butter has been mixed in then add the previously beaten (with a fork) whole egg and the egg yolk. Add two teaspoonfuls of water if the mixture starts to become too thick.  

Work the dough until it is homogeneous, make a ball and wrap it in clingfilm then put it in the fridge for about 30 minutes. After half an hour, put the ball between two sheets of buttered or oiled and lightly floured oven sheets, then roll it with a rolling pin giving it the shape of a large disk.  Butter and flour a round baking dish and spread the dough and prick it with a fork. Fill the dough with kidney beans in order to cook it and put it is a preheated oven at 180 degrees for 15 minutes. After this time remove the beans and cook agin in the oven for another 5 minutes. Once cooked, allow the base the tart to cool off then add the filling. Spread a generous layer of blackberry or fruits of the forest jam, then cover the entire surface with whole blackberries and sprinkle with icing sugar.  

Serve it to your guests with a glass of Marchesini EriGiò: a meditation wine with hints of orange blossom, almond and vanilla. A sweet wine that goes well with pastries in general making it a perfect match for our blackberry tart.
